Estimating Moving Costs

Trying to determine the exact amount you need for moving costs is not an easy thing to do. In fact it is not even an exact science. We can plan all we want in our minds how much we are to pay – but without the proper planning those could all be ruined. The best thing that we could do is to estimate the amount of money that we will need.

There are many ways in which we could estimate the costs of moving. The place to begin is the moving company you are going to use. Ask them for an estimate on the type of truck you will need. If you want them to pack your belongings or are considering it then make sure you have an estimate for that also. Remember that the estimate may not include insurance, gas, etc.

If you are moving the belongings on your own then you need to estimate how much the truck and other moving supplies are going to cost you. These supplies include; boxes, moving blankets, dollies, furniture pads, and other packing materials. However, as we said before you may not always need to purchase everything from them. Boxes are the one thing you may be able to get for free.

Packing up all of those belongings by yourself is a hard job so why not ask someone for some assistance? You could either hire someone professional who can move it for you or you can ask a few friends. With someone professional count in the amount you will wish to tip them. While you may not need to pay your friends it is still best to provide them with water and pizza as a thank you.

Sometimes families are not able to move together. It is hard to fit everyone into a truck that can only seat three people. Not to mention that someone has to drive the car to the new home. Estimate how much in gas you will be spending on the family car or if you need a rental car. Include food and possible hotel costs.

With these estimates you will be able to know how much money you are going to need to save up. To make sure that you have covered all your bases try to save extra money then what the estimates are.
